Signed Memorandum of Cooperation with Montenegrin Chamber of Economy

The Presidents of the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro and the Turkish Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro, Dr. Nina Drakić and Burhan Genç, signed the Memorandum of Cooperation between the two associations on February 27, in the presence of the Turkish Ambassador to Montenegro, Barış Kalkavan.

Cooperation with the organization that brings together the most important Turkish companies in Montenegro will be carried out with the aim of facilitating trade and investments between the two countries, organizing joint business missions, conferences and workshops, exchanging information on business opportunities and market trends, providing support to companies that want to enter the Montenegrin or the Turkish market, promoting joint ventures and strategic partnerships between companies, contributing to the development of a favorable business environment in Montenegro and Türkiye.

The signatories will exchange information on legal and regulatory frameworks, organize training programs for business representatives, facilitate networking opportunities for businesses from both countries, promote the use of digital technologies to facilitate trade and investment, develop and implement joint projects, and jointly organize events, such as fairs and business forums.

By signing the agreement, we are contributing to the strengthening of good cooperation with the Turkish economy, attracting investments, increasing trade exchange – said President Drakić, emphasizing that the Chamber of Economy is at the service of Turkish businessmen operating in Montenegro, who are also its members.

The President of TurkCham Montenegro Mr. Genç said that the signing of the Memorandum represents the first step that formalizes the already excellent cooperation of Turkish businessmen with the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro.

We hope to strengthen cooperation between the business communities of our two countries – said Genç, adding that there is room for cooperation especially in agriculture and mariculture.

Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Mr. Kalkavan thanked the Chamber for its continued support of the Embassy’s and Chamber’s economic activities. He spoke about the visit of the President of Montenegro to Türkiye in April or May, and on that occasion a large business forum will be organized, which, according to him, should open numerous opportunities for inter-company cooperation.

He also emphasized the need for the institutionalization of cooperation between the chambers of commerce of both countries, and said that the plan is to form a Joint Economic Council, which aims to support and promote economic cooperation between Türkiye and Montenegro.

The focus is also mutual support on infrastructure projects, so that their implementation would be easier and more successful, as well as the drafting of an agreement on cooperation in the field of agriculture, and the strengthening of cooperation between governments through Government-to-Government (G2G) initiatives – said Kalkavan.

The signing of the Memorandum was attended by the vice-president of the PKCG Pavle D. Radovanović, the adviser to the president Dragoljub Bulatović, the representative of the International Cooperation Sector of the PK Ivana Parača, the adviser for economic affairs at the Embassy Erdal Karaömeroğlu, the vice-president and the executive director of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro Erdem Öğüt and Volkan Gursoy and PR manager Sauda Nurković-Aksak.
