At the meeting between the Executive Director of the Investment and Development Fund of Montenegro (IRF), Irena Radović, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Montenegro, Barış Kalkavan, the strong determination of the IRF to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries was highlighted.
At the meeting, the importance and mutual commitment to the improvement of economic relations between Montenegro and Türkiye was highlighted, as well as the IRF’s support for Turkish investors who plan to implement high-quality and sustainable projects in Montenegro. They discussed initiatives and projects supported by the Turkish Embassy in Montenegro, including cooperation in the areas of infrastructure, health, education and development of Montenegro as a regional business center, and expanding cooperation through the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between IRF and the Development Bank of the Republic of Türkiye. The executive director of the IRF, Irena Radović, highlighted the development path of our institution and emphasized the commitment to achieving strategic goals that are aligned with the priorities of state development. The focus is on development programs of IRF financing in priority sectors, as well as on support for vulnerable categories, including young people and women in business. Also, support for infrastructure projects of local and regional importance was highlighted, in order to encourage balanced regional development. Respecting global trends in the field of green economy and digital transition, the IRF emphasized its commitment to adopting modern standards in the field of financing and business operations. The Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye in Podgorica, Barış Kalkavan, expressed satisfaction with today’s meeting, emphasizing that his country’s relations with Montenegro are outstanding, and announced an initiative with Bloomberg Türkiye where the Investment and Development Fund will participate in the promotion of Montenegro as an attractive business destination. At the meeting, he also emphasized that the presence of 6,000 Turkish companies in Montenegro represents a significant economic factor. The Ambassador presented to Director Radović the activities of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro – TurkCham Montenegro, which provides a platform for connecting Turkish companies operating in Montenegro, as well as for Montenegrin companies cooperating with Türkiye, emphasizing that as such it represents a service for the improvement of economic cooperation between the two countries.
