On the occasion of the centenary of the Republic of Türkiye, one of the most famous dance ensembles in the world, “Fire of Anatolia”, performed on Sunday, September 16, in front of the Montenegrin audience at Independence Square in Podgorica.
The Turkish Chamber of Commerce, the Turkish Embassy and the Capital City organized the event.
The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps in Montenegro, a large number of visitors, as well as representatives of the public and cultural life of Montenegro.
Before the dance group from Türkiye, the audience was entertained by the folklore ensemble of KIC “Budo Tomović”, which performed traditional dances from Montenegro.
On behalf of the organizers, the president of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro, Burhan Genç, and the mayor of Podgorica, Olivera Injac, welcomed the meeting.
“I express my sincere respect for the development and prosperity of Türkiye. We appreciate the precious centuries-old heritage and the extraordinary transformation that Türkiye has achieved in the modern era in various fields. As a bridge between East and West, Türkiye embodies the spirit of inclusiveness and togetherness to ensure a harmonious future”, said Injac.
Mr. Genc said he is thrilled that the Turkish Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro can start its activities with such an occasion and spectacle. He congratulated the centenary of the Republic of Türkiye, wishing that the brotherhood of the peoples of Montenegro and Türkiye would last forever.
His Excellency Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Montenegro, Barış Kalkavan, also addressed the audience and pointed out that there are good, friendly relations between Türkiye and Montenegro and announced that, on the occasion of this jubilee, he will organize various cultural programs in Montenegro in the coming period.
The dance show “Fire of Anatolia”, a combination of stylized traditional dances and music performed in modern choreographies and contemporary arrangements, amazed those on Independence Square. Fascinating dance costumes and postcards of Turkish regions complemented this combination of rhythm and dance.
