As part of strengthening regional cooperation and improving bilateral relations between Montenegro and the Republic of Türkiye, the Ministry of Finance of Montenegro, headed by Minister Novica Vuković, hosted a delegation from Türkiye, including high-ranking representatives of the Istanbul Stock Exchange as well as the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Montenegro, H.E. Mr. Barış Kalkavan. The main topics of discussion were the development of the capital market in Montenegro and opportunities for cooperation with the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
Representatives of the Istanbul Stock Exchange, including the vice president, Assoc. Ph.D. Guzhan Gulay, and the advisor for trade relations at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye, Erdal Karaomeroğlu, presented proposals to support the development of the capital market in Montenegro. Special emphasis was placed on strengthening personnel capacities through education and training of personnel at the Istanbul Stock Exchange, as well as on supporting the technological improvement of the IT system of the Montenegrin Stock Exchange, along with a proposal to strengthen cooperation and better connection of these two exchanges. Perspectives for cooperation within the framework of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro (Turkcham Montenegro), which already plays a role in strengthening economic relations between the two countries, were also discussed.
Minister of Finance Novica Vuković expressed gratitude for the initiatives and support of the Turkish side, stressing Montenegro’s openness to developing the capital market and attracting foreign investments. The importance of continued cooperation between the stock exchanges of the two countries was also emphasized, which will contribute not only to economic development, but also to the deeper integration of Montenegro into regional and global financial flows. Both parties agreed to continue dialogue and cooperation on projects of mutual interest, with the aim of creating a more favorable environment for investors and improving the financial market of Montenegro.
